The following are scans from mid-60s issues of China Reconstructs (中国建重) magazine. Given the the political environment of the times, it’s not surprising that they contain a number of visual references to the Cultural Revolution, whether it’s children admiring Mao badges or workers and soldiers studying Quotations from Chairman Mao Tse-Tung, better known as Mao’s “Little Red Book.”

A small number of the photos have issue and page numbers, as well as captions (culled from this site). However, these scans are almost ten years old and I’m missing my original notes. I hope to someday add to the collection as well as fully annotate them. Until then, they serve as a taste of what’s out there. If you live close to a large-ish college or university, you might check with their library to see if they happen to hold copies in their collection.
